Cookie policy

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit our site. It sounds more exciting than it is. Usually they contain little more than "this visitor is logged in" or "this visitor doesn't want statistics".
And yes, that last one is exactly as contradictory as it sounds: we need a cookie to remember that you'd rather not have cookies. Otherwise we'd ask you again on every page, and nobody enjoys that.
Which cookies do we use?
There aren't many, so let's just run through them.
Necessary — these you can't switch off
Without these cookies the site doesn't work. They contain no information anyone else could do anything with.

Security — reCAPTCHA
On our sign-up page we use Google reCAPTCHA. That's an invisible check that works out whether you're a human or a robot.
Why we do it: without that check, the site was swamped with fake accounts from spambots. Annoying for us, and annoying for you.
A few things we think are worth saying:
- reCAPTCHA runs only on the sign-up page. Nowhere else.
- Google receives your IP address and some behavioural data, such as how your mouse moves.
- You can't switch this check off. If we let you, spammers could simply walk around it.
So it's a lock on the door, not a way of following you.
Statistics — only if you say yes
We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used. For example: which pages get viewed, how people find us, and where they drop off.
Why? To understand what works and what doesn't. If everyone gets stuck at the same step, that tells us there's something to improve there.
What we do to protect your privacy:
- Your IP address is anonymised. So Google doesn't get to see your full address.
- We don't link these statistics to your account or your email address.
- We don't sell this data and we don't use it for advertising.
We only place these cookies after you've clicked "Accept". Click "Necessary only" and we don't load Google Analytics at all. Not secretly a little bit. Just not.
Cookies from others
Sometimes you end up at another party through us. Their rules apply there, not ours:
- Mollie — when you pay, you go to Mollie's secure payment environment.
- Spotify — we link to playlists on Spotify. Click through and you're on their site.
Changing your choice
Changed your mind? That's fine.
You can also delete cookies yourself through your browser settings. Bear in mind that you'll have to log in again, and that we'll have lost your cookie choice too. Then we'll simply ask you once more.
